Comment: When the male cattle are completely released
By Bernd Fisa
In July, thank you to Javier Tebas Medrano and Fran Canal, I fulfilled my childhood dreams in San Fermín in Pamplona. A few weeks later, Fran and Rafa Sáenz welcomed me to the world of Ca Osasuna. Authentic, intense, and rooted in identity, Osasuna and El Awareness stadium feels like an extension of Encierro. That’s my Takeaway at Diario de Navarra.
I worked for years at Red Bull, a multinational company that changed the way to understand sponsors in sports. Its founder is a true marketing genius. In football, the motto is clear: let the bulls free. The phrase symbolizes the style of play based on the attacks of all-out and high pressure.
But it is important not to forget something important: in the end, Red Bull sells drinks. This is marketing. Brilliant, innovative, yes … but contained on the picture board.
I remember that when Red Bull entered football in 2005 we launched a very interesting campaign where the players and bulls ran together.
What I have never imagined is that what we have designed on paper is already in real life. As a teenager I read a hemingway party. That fascinated me. But I don’t know that in Pamplona there is a club called Osasuna.
In Pamplona, male ox is really freed. Encierro is a living tradition, authentic, rooted in the heart of Navarrese. And the same thing happened with Osasuna.
Talking about Osasuna means talking about identity. You feel it on your skin. People become emotional, their hair stands when they talk about their club. San Fermín and Osasuna form an inseparable equation: celebration, community, ownership. Pure authenticity.
DNA “Rojillo” inspired me. Warrior. Hard woker. With a deep sense of belonging. Strong player blocks from home, from Navarre’s land. It gives a very big strength. At the worst time, it remains loyal to himself.
This is a very smart strategy and a way to lead. Navarre knows that: We are a little, but with what we have we do everything possible. That is why the Youth Academy must be treated: the most productive in Spain in connection with its population and the players who reach the first team.
Osasuna represents one of the most interesting stories in football: a club that, without giant resources, already knows how to build greatness from desire and pride in its value. The New York Times defines it as a “model club” and adds: “All fans must want their team to be more like Osasuna.”
If Ernest Hemingway lives today and looking for themes for the next work, Osasuna will be a natural candidate to be successful throughout the world. Because what happens in El consciously every weekend cannot be explained with market numbers or brand strategies: that is explained by authenticity.
This moment has arrived for greater knowledge about how Osasuna lives and interprets football outside Navarre and Spain. Because, in a world filled with intelligence, what is real – when male ox is really freed – is what touches our souls.
