Positive News For Serge Gnabry When Sacha Boey Is Loaned

As we reported a few weeks ago, Bayern Munich has several players whose contracts will expire, either this summer or soon after.

Bayern Munich Contract Update: Serge Gnabry Extends His Stay at Bayern Until 2028

The first and most positive story in Bayern Munich’s contract renewal is that Gnabry has signed a two-year contract extension with the Bavarians.

The versatile forward, who has been with the club since 2018, has won six Bundesliga titles, a UEFA Champions League trophy and a FIFA Club World Cup, among other honours.

He knows about the club and has internalized what is known in Germany as the “Bayern gene”.

When he arrives from Türkiye in January 2024, there are very serious problems with defensive depth, so he is a welcome reinforcement at that point.

However, since then, he has made just 38 appearances, winning one Bundesliga title and one German Super Cup in two years with the Bavarians.

Boey can still take this step because the winter transfer market in Türkiye is still open, while the Bundesliga has been closed since Monday, February 2.

Leon Goretzka remains with Bayern for this season

Despite having a contract with the Bavarian side that he has long known would not be renewed, and despite several Spanish clubs being interested in signing him in January, Goretzka has decided to stay at Bayern for the remainder of the season and the remainder of his contract.

With the likes of Joshua Kimmich, Aleksandar Pavlović and eventually also Tom Bischof ahead of him in the Bavarian midfield hierarchy, it would not make sense to extend Goretzka’s contract.
