Real Madrid’s performance continues to increase pressure on Xabi Alonso

Real Madrid’s current form is worrying, as they lost to Manchester City at the Santiago Bernabeu in a UEFA Champions League match, adding to the pressure on their manager, Xabi Alonso. The Cityzens won the Real Madrid vs Man City match 2-1 to overtake Real in the league table.

Real Madrid is currently in seventh place in the Champions League standings. However, their current form under Alonso leaves little to be desired. Real Madrid’s performance also highlighted Alonso’s deteriorating relationship with his players.

Real Madrid’s form has been poor for some time now. Los Blancos have won only two of their last eight matches and lost three. Arch-rivals Barcelona have opened a four-point lead over them in La Liga.

Injury problems are also increasing. Injuries to Eder Militao, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Kylian Mbappe, Dani Carvajal and Eduardo Camavinga meant that Real could not field their best line-up against Manchester City.

Federico Valverde is now forced to play as a right-back, and fringe players like Dani Ceballos play as a defensive midfielder. Worse still, Vinicius Junior, the star left winger, has only scored five goals in 21 games this season so far.

He would have to play 18 games to do that. Mbappe is in fantastic form, having scored 25 goals, but he cannot drag the team alone. Arda Guler, a young player from Turkey, has had many opportunities, but so far he has only been able to score three goals in 21 matches.

Apart from that, Alonso’s tendency to micromanage things has not been well received by the players. Several players were clearly having disagreements with the manager. Alonso is wise enough to know that managing Bayer Leverkusen, with whom he won the Bundesliga title undefeated, and managing Real Madrid are not the same.

Alonso must know that he cannot lose his dressing room if he wants to win something with Real Madrid. This player from Spain is a former Real Madrid player and knows well the situation that occurs at such a big club.

Real Madrid’s form must improve before they face Monaco and Benfica in January in the Champions League. They also have a game against city rivals Atletico Madrid in the Supercopa de España next month.

With important matches coming up, Xabi Alonso must look for ways to improve Real Madrid’s performance. He had to improve his relationship with the players first. Otherwise, the pressure on him will increase, and he is threatened with losing his job.
