Spain’s Successful World Cup Qualifying Campaign Continues

La Roja’s victory in the World Cup qualifying match Georgia vs Spain on Saturday 15 November almost ensured their qualification for the 2026 World Cup. La Furia Roja, who are European champions, collected 15 points from five matches after winning 4-0 on Saturday.

Needless to say, they are top of the qualifying group. Based on current form, they are one of the three best national teams in Europe, alongside France and Norway.

Georgia vs Spain again recorded perfect results

After a dominant win in the Georgia vs Spain match, the Spanish team has now scored 19 goals in their qualifying campaign so far. The most astonishing fact is that they have not conceded a single goal. This is a remarkable record, considering that the Spanish team does not have much competition in its group other than that offered by Turkiye.

Spain’s win over Georgia included two goals from Mikel Oyarzabal. The 28-year-old Oyarzabal has now scored five goals in his qualifying campaign. Overall, he scored 21 goals in 50 international appearances for Spain. The Real Sociedad striker will be one of his team’s key players at the 2026 World Cup. He will be assisted by Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams, the most attractive winger duo in the world at the moment.

Martin Zubimendi has also cemented his place in the Spanish national team, and his name was also on the scoresheet on Saturday. With Rodri experiencing frequent injury problems of late, it is now up to Zubimendi, Pedri and Fabian Ruiz to dictate conditions in midfield, which they have been happy to do.

Spain’s defensive solidity is an underrated trait. The fact that they dominated the ball really helped their defenders reorganize themselves. In Pedro Porro and Marc Cucurella, they have two very capable wing-backs, and Robin Le Normand is a very reliable centre-back. Unai Simon, the goalkeeper, is not often called into action, but usually does a good job whenever necessary.

Can Spain Win a Second World Cup Title in 2026?

Spain will undoubtedly be one of the favorites to win the 2026 World Cup. The Spanish team has one of the best squads on paper, and their recent form is second to none. Many teams play possession-based football these days, but hardly any other team can pass as easily as the Spaniards.

However, success at big tournaments always boils down to good performances on a few big nights in the final rounds. It then becomes a question of courage and temperament as well as ability.

The good thing for Spain is that they will retain the majority of the players who won Euro 2024 in Germany for the 2026 World Cup.

Players like Rodri and Pedri have won big titles for their respective clubs and will provide necessary experience in Spain’s World Cup campaign. Luis de la Fuente is a level-headed coach and knows how to get the best out of his players.

And if the Georgia vs Spain match showed anything, it’s that it looks very promising for Spain in general, and that they are truly one of the superpowers in world football.
