The most sought -after soccer, Jack Warner, was finally free from extrading for us in the FIFAGATE case
September 24 – Former FIFA Vice President and Concacaf President Jack Warner, after 10 years challenging Trinidad and Tobago’s extradition rules about a technical, finally avoiding extradition to the US to face justice.
In May 2015 Warner was charged by the US Department of Justice with 29 accusations of wire fraud, extortion, money laundering and bribery as part of the Fifagate scandal which finally witnessed 47 charges issued against FIFA and international federation officials, and sports marketers.
Warner surrendered to the Trinidad and Tobago police immediately after the indictment was issued and released with guarantee. Since then he has struggled to remain in Trinidad on the grounds that every extradition is illegal based on local law.
In the decision submitted yesterday (Tuesday), in the Chief Justice of Trinidad and Tobago, Karen Reid said that the constitutional rights of Warner had been violated and that the process was flawed.
In the heart of the dispute was an agreement allegedly made by former Attorney General Trinidad and Tobago Faris al-Rawi with the US Department of Justice in 2015 which was made before he signed the authority for the Main Judge to continue with the extradition process.
The agreement should describe the criminal accusations that Warner will face in the US if extracted. There is no copy of the agreement that can be found.
Robert Strang, who recently took over as the main advisor to the state in this case, agreed that the Warner legal team had asked a valid question regarding the alleged agreement and that although the previous Attorney General’s office said there was an agreement document, then could not find an agreement, showed the possibility of no.
While the court has now rejected the extradition order to the 84-year-old Warner, lawyers have been ordered to return to court to ascertain whether the special regulation for Warner’s extradition is actually a fabrication and that a person never really existed.
Speaking to The Trinidad Express, Warner said: “I have experienced this struggle for ten years. The state gave 15 lawyers, seven of them were silk (senior advisors). I want to thank God and I want to thank my lawyer team led by Fard Hosein, Rishi Dass, Sasha Bridgemohansingh and Anil Maraj.
“As I said, for the past ten years, this has spent my life so now I want to get back my life, whatever is left. I want to get back my life,” Warner said.
Winning the case against the extradition does not mean that Warner is innocent for the crime charged in the US indictment 2015
It is estimated that Warner personally enrich him more than $ 20 million, which is likely to be a conservative number.
Warner has spent 10 years looking from behind her shoulders waiting for a knock on the door that can send her to the US. Now he has no fear of extradition and even though he has a passport again, he is still the person sought in the US and is impossible to use it again.
