There was no dilution of the ‘chilling effect’ of the $100 train ride to MetLife stadium

April 20 – FIFA says NJ Transit pricing will have a ‘chilling effect’ on supporters using public transport during the World Cup.

Last week, NJ Transit said a train ride from New York to MetLife Stadium in New Jersey would cost $100 and New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill said FIFA should subsidize public transit.

In response, FIFA – whose match ticket prices have soared and received criticism from around the world – has doubled its ticket prices.

FIFA tournament official and CEO Heimo Schirgi said: “NJ Transit’s current pricing model will have a chilling effect.”

He said that FIFA’s aim was “to minimize congestion, reduce reliance on private vehicles, and ensure a positive and memorable fan experience that is defined by the action on the pitch, not delays on the roads”.

“Increased fares inevitably encourage fans to choose alternative transportation options. This increases concerns about congestion, delays in arrivals, and creates a wider ripple effect that ultimately reduces the economic benefits and lasting legacy that the entire region gains by hosting the World Cup.”

One of the tournament venues, MetLifeStadium in New Jersey, will host eight games during the tournament, including the World Cup final on July 19. This isn’t the only venue where supporters will struggle to get affordable transport. Train fare for the game at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, outside Boston, will cost $80. FIFA points to other host cities that are able to keep public transportation prices affordable.

Sherrill outlined that NJ Transit has a bill of $48 million and FIFA does not provide any budget for transportation.

“Setting arbitrarily high prices and asking FIFA to cover these costs is unprecedented,” Schirgi said. “No other major global event, concert or sports promoter faces such demand.

“While FIFA is projected to generate approximately $11 billion in revenue, not profits, as the governor incorrectly stated, FIFA has always been a non-profit organization under our constitution. Revenue from the FIFA World Cup is reinvested to grow the game of soccer, particularly for young people and women, around the world.”

Schirgi failed to point out that FIFA tends to enjoy tax-free status when hosting the World Cup and generally makes many demands on host countries and cities.

PakarPBN

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.

In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.

The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
