Bayern Munich posts record €978.3m ‘despite turbulent times’


November 3 – Bundesliga champions and German football powerhouse, Bayern Munich, announced record revenue and membership growth for the 2024/25 season, with revenues reaching €978.3 million, an increase of 2.8% on the previous season.

Operating profit (EBITDA) rose to €187.8 million (+11.3%). Pre-tax profit was €42.5 million, with net profit for the year of €27.1 million.

The club paid €257.7 million in taxes (VAT, payroll, corporate and business taxes).

Club president Herbert Hainer, who was re-elected at the AGM, emphasized Bayern’s long-term vision and balanced growth approach, saying, “FC Bayern continues to combine sporting success with economic strength. These record results demonstrate the stability of our model and the loyalty of our fans and partners. With more than 430,000 members, we are not just a football club but a global community.”

Match day revenue, at €260.7 million was the largest revenue contributor, followed by sponsorship and marketing contracts at €240.4 million.

Merchandise revenue of €150.5 million was higher than broadcast and media revenue, while media revenue of €105.3 million included €102.9 million from DFL Bundesliga central marketing.

Bayern earned €117.7 million in the transfer window while there was ‘other income’ of €51.9 million.

On the expenditure side, the club paid salaries of €408.3 million and had operating costs of €310.0 million.

Materials and services were itemized at a cost of €59.9 million, while there was depreciation of €132.3 million, of which €126.4 million was transfer amortization.

CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said: “FC Bayern remains financially strong, on the right track sportingly and united in team spirit – that’s our Mia san Mia trifecta. Despite turbulent times and the transfer market having reached new heights, we have once again achieved record revenues and posted solid profits. This shows the extraordinary strength and substance of our club.

“We are not volatile. FC Bayern is stable. We do not spend more than we earn. This attitude is part of our philosophy and will continue to guide us in the years to come. FC Bayern’s success is the result of a strong community: dedicated employees, reliable partners and sponsors, and constructive cooperation within the executive and supervisory boards – for which I would like to express my sincere thanks,” concluded Dressen.
