More space for futsal and soccer coming soon to Forest Hill
The Football Factory plans to open a second location in Forest Hill, not far from the original facility.
The new venue, at 110 Industry Lane, will be 14,000 square feet and will focus on high-level leagues, rentals and training, according to owner Chuck Travis. It will feature a large field for futsal, a fast-paced indoor variation of soccer played with five players per team on a hard court. It will also have a large grass pitch, small turning area and a full gym.
The original Football Factory building at 98 Industry Lane will remain open.
The second space will allow for group training, after-school programs, summer futsal and soccer camps, as well as specialty field rentals. Travis hopes to open a second location by Feb. 1.
“We try to separate the levels as much as we can because it’s good for development,” Travis said. “The players have to train with players who are at their own level. So now, something like this gives us the ability to do that.”
Travis first opened The Soccer Factory in June 2020 when he rented a 4,000 square foot space. He quickly outgrew that space, and opened an 11,700-square-foot facility nine months later, in Forest Hill.
Travis said he started his business because he saw a lack of technical soccer training for individual players in Harford County. He grew up in Dundalk and played football until joining the Marine Corps.
“Most of the players, they train with their teams a few days a week,” he said. “To really improve, if you want to be good at this game, you have to practice more than that. There’s really no opportunity for you to go into individual sessions.”
Soccer Factory offers tiered memberships that allow players to train more often for less money than going to a personal trainer, he said.
