Barcelona is the latest name to register with Dr. Kongo who was hit by war
31 July-FC Barcelona has signed a four-year partnership with the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) which will make the La Liga giant promote the African state as a tourist and cultural destination.
Based on the agreement, worth $ 46.37 million, all Barça professional teams will wear the slogan “RD Kongo – Cœ d’Afrique” (Heart of Africa) behind their training kit during the 2028-29 season. DRC became “official empowerment partners for sports and culture” as part of an agreement, with partnerships set to reach sports promotions and grassroots.
According to the contract, DRC will pay Barça between $ 11.5 million and $ 13.2 million per year for four years.
This partnership also includes a youth program led by the Barça Academy, with training camps and soccer clinics for children in the DRC-Section that have been plagued by armed conflicts for months. The club launched the academy in Lagos, Nigeria last year.
Congo hit by war will also have a physical presence at Espai Barça which was rebuilt from the club, where the “House of the DRC” will be established at the Camp Spotify Camp Nou Future, creating a permanent space dedicated to cultural exchange and promotion.
The agreement followed a similar partnership made by DRC with AC Milan and Monaco.
For Barcelona, still navigating its financial rebuilding, the agreement offers commercial revenue – and the footing in one of the largest and youngest markets in Africa.
